American consumer goods company Sara Lee is set to close its retail outlets where it offers its products at discounted prices.
According to the company,all its outlets are expected to be closed by the end of November.About nine of its 11 stores are located in the Chicago area,reported the Chicago Tribune.
This announcement comes as the company is in the process of splitting into two firms-a global coffee business and a North American meat business which is set to be named Hillshire Brands.
Nearly 75 employees will be affected by the store closures.
Sara Lee spokesman Mike Cummins said that as a pure-play company,Hillshire brands must remain focused on production and distribution of products and cannot direct the resources and attention required for success in standalone retail operations.
