June sales 2% declined compared to corresponding month in 2011.
The worldwide sales of semiconductors declined 0.1% in June to $24.38 compared to $24.40bn in May, according to a report.
According to the US based Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), sales for June dropped 2% compared to $24.89bn during the same month in 2011.
Semiconductor Industry Association president & CEO Brian Toohey said the semiconductor industry continues to navigate the turbulent global economy better than most sectors, but macroeconomic uncertainties are limiting overall recovery and growth.
"The Japan and Asia Pacific sequential increases are encouraging signs, but are tempered by continued weakness in Europe and the Americas," Toohey said.
The regional sales of the semiconductors on a sequential monthly basis reported 2% rise in Japan, 0.6% in Asia Pacific, while the sales in Europe and the Americas declined 0.7% and 3.6% respectively.
During June 2012, Japan and Asia Pacific reported 3.7% and 1% rises respectively, while the Americas and European region reported steep decline in sales to 8.1% and 12.1% respectively, when compared to the same month in 2011.
Japan and Asia Pacific reported month-over-month and year-over-year growth simultaneously for the first time since September 2010.
