Siemens PLM Software Has Granted Software to The Tune of $79 Million

Siemens PLM Software has granted software to the tune of $79 million to an engineering college at Moodbidri in Dakshina Kannada district, according to press reports. The MoU to this effect was signed on March 20, 2014.

The technological aid is for setting up a Centre of Excellence in digital design, digital validation and in digital manufacturing at Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE). The centre would be opened by July. Other colleges in the region can also make use of the centre's facility, reports said.

This is the first Centre of Excellence by Siemens in Karnataka, it is learnt. With this centre, students will get access to the same technology that companies around the world depend on every day to develop products in industries such as automotive, aerospace, machinery, shipbuilding and high-tech electronics.

Siemens PLM Software is setting up five such centres in Gujarat. Siemens PLM Software is a provider of PLM (project lifecycle management) software and services with 71,000 customers worldwide, he said.
