KBA-MetalPrint and KBA-Digital & Web Solutions have jointly developed a new printing system for mass beverage can production.
The new printing system, CS MetalCan, will be exhibited at Metpack trade show in Essen, Germany.
Marketed under the new label known as CanSolutions, the system is claimed to redefine the standards in beverage can decorating.
The system features ten keyless inking units for an indirect letterset process and automatic plate and blanket changers, enabling to enhance beverage can decorating.
CS MetalCan’s keyless inking units have been specifically developed to meet the demands and production conditions of beverage can decorating.
According to the company, high-performance motors enable to provide a maximum rated speed of 2,500 cpm.
Each printing unit includes its own automatic plate changer, allowing to change plates parallel to each other within one minute.
In addition, the 12 blankets on the central blanket wheel can be changed simultaneously, helping the operator to focus on the quality-related aspects of the makeready process.
CS MetalCan features 24-inch touchscreen display, which will allow operator to select required commands immediately.
With the combination of CS PinOven and CS BeltOven drying systems, KBA-MetalPrint now provides complete printing solutions for the two-piece market segment.
The company also produces systems for the production of three-piece cans.
In March, KBA has laid the foundation stone of a new digital and flexographic press demo centre at its Würzburg parent plant in Germany.
The new demo centre will be developed to offer presentation facilities with easy access to Frankfurt International Airport for customers coming in from new markets.
