Specialty packaging producer UFP Technologies has expanded manufacturing operations at its plant in Glendale Heights, Illinois, US to cope-up with the demand created by medical device manufacturers.
The company, after attaining ISO 13485:2003 certification in 2011, has built an ISO Class 8 clean room to produce Class III medical devices.
A new production machinery was also installed within the clean room to manufacture custom components, products, and packaging from medical-grade foams and thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU).
The new capabilities, which comprise RF welding, high speed die cutting, and heat sealing will allow the company to produce multiple-millions of parts per week.
Glendale Heights facility general manager Michael Zumpano said that the firm's investment in medical manufacturing capabilities is crucial to support the growing demands of customers.
"Our facility is equipped to fabricate the latest medical-grade foams, films, and other specialty materials that we have access to from our broad supply base," Zumpano added.
