US carmaker Ford Motors has unveiled its new Transit Custom prior to its debut at the 2012 Birmingham commercial vehicle show in UK this month.
The new van will be powered by the upgraded version of 2.2 litre Duratorq diesel engine, offered in three different variants of power output which include 74kW, 92kW and 114kW.
Transit's Stage V model will feature an Auto-Start-Stop technology, and its range will deliver a combined fuel consumption of 6.6l/100km (42.8mpg) and 174g/km CO2 emissions.
The van is equipped with driver assistance technologies which include SYNC voice-activated, in-car connectivity system, emergency assistance, rear-view camera and lane keeping alert and driver alert.
Ford will begin the production of Transit Custom from mid this year at its Kocaeli plant in Turkey while will be launched for the market later in the year.
The company is also planning to unveil larger and higher payload Transits featuring rear-wheel-drive later this year, which will be on sale in global basis.
