Methanol Market Showed Mixed Trend in Asia

In the week ending September 15, Methanol market showed mixed trend in Asia whereas it was stable in US and went up slightly in Europe.

In China, Methanol prices inched up slightly in the week due to improved support from downstream market. In the initial days of the reporting week, prices were at US$ 360/ton, slightly up as compared to its previous week. Methanol prices were spotted at US$ 360-365/ton CFR China.

Methanol prices were stable in the same week in Korea and Japan. Methanol prices in the range of US$ 365-375/ton FOB Korea and CFR Japan.

In India, Methanol prices went down slightly due to ample availability in the region and were marked at US$ 315-320/ton CFR India. In S.E. Asia, Methanol prices surged up slightly and were assessed at US$ 365-370/ton CFR S.E. Asia.

Methanol prices went up marginally in Europe last week, and were assessed in the range of US$ 290-305/ton FOB Rotterdam. Contract prices posted by Methanex for October to December are € 340/ton FOB NWE.

Prices of Methanol were stable in US in the same week. Spot prices of Methanol were in the range of 110-115 (cents/gallon) FOB US.
