Buckinghamshire County Council has begun its LED street light replacement strategy that will see the installation of more than 1,000 LED luminaires before the end of this year.
It's the first phase in a three-year programme of works to replace 7,500 street lights across the county's major roads, agreed by the local authority in June.
Ringway Jacobs is implementing and managing the installation, using the Urbis Schréder Teceo luminaire with dimming options, on eight and 10-metre columns on the county's main roads.
The strategy is funded by the county council and Salix, a government-backed not-for-profit company that provides interest-free loans for energy efficiency projects.

Councillors hope to achieve 90 per cent LED street light replacement across the county, including residential areas, within five years.
A spokeswoman for the council said the county could achieve savings of "50% per cent of its energy consumption after completing the programme, as well as proportional carbon emissions reductions".
She added: "The development of LED lighting has brought about innovative changes enabling energy savings and provides for a unique, flexible, sustainable, and integrated lighting solution, which could not have been envisioned only a few years ago."
