Nestlé Spain plans to invest €102m on a new energy efficient line for Nescafé soluble coffee at its Girona facility in order to improve production capacity by 30%.
The investment will be made between 2015 and 2017.
This investment is expected to expand production capacity to 30,000 tonnes annually.
The additional coffee produced will be exported mainly to other countries in Europe.
Technological advances imply that the line will use 40% less energy and 33% less water per kilogram of product manufactured than present lines at the Girona site.
This facility produces Nescafé Dolce Gusto capsules as well as Nescafé soluble coffee.
Nestlé invested €236m in the Girona site between 2007 and 2014. The company has been manufacturing Nescafé soluble coffee at this facility since 1968, and Nescafé Dolce Gusto capsules since 2009.
