GE Lighting has signed a contract with Tune Hotels, a budget hotel group with headquarters in Malaysia and branches throughout Asia and the UK.
The company is working with the Tune Hotels group to plan and design properties currently under construction as part of the hotel group’s expansion plans.
So far, GE Lighting has retrofitted three Tune Hotels in Malaysia with 2,876 interior and exterior LED lights in the hotel reception area, corridors and guest rooms.
GE Lighting said its efforts will result in Tune Hotels saving an estimated 30 to 40 per cent in energy and maintenance costs. The company’s work involves helping Tune Hotels adhere to Malaysia’s Green Building Index, an initiative founded in 2009 to promote sustainability in the built environment.
Mark Lankester, CEO of Tune Hotels,said: “In Malaysia, we aim to be the first branded budget hotel chain in Asia to be certified to the standards of the country’s Green Building Index.”
