RPC Group subsidiary RPC Massmould has introduced a next-generation sports cap to provide maximum product safety and integrity with enhanced consumer convenience.
Developed in conjunction with RPC Astra Plastique, the new Secure Flip Sports Closure allows for intuitive one-handed opening through an ergonomically designed Thumb Tab.
Designed to open to a full and stable 180°, the cap allows consumers to comfortably drink from the closure spout. It can either be fully open or re-closed with an audible click.
Additional features of the new cap include two sustainable tamper-evident bands, of which, the initial one breaks on first opening.
The second tamper-evident Tuck Under Band, which is located at the base of the closure, is equipped with individual upstands.
To ensure optimized efficiency on filling lines, the Tuck Under Band supports alignment with the capping machinery.
RPC said: “Importantly, unlike other sports caps that feature a detachable tab which then has to be thrown way or in many instances simply dropped on the floor, both parts of the Secure Flip tamper-evident band are retained within the closure.”
Additionally, a three-legged safety device, Triskeles, is placed at the mouth of the closure to prevent elements from falling into the drink.
Currently available in 29.25 and 18.81 neck finishes, the new closure comprises an IP protected hinge for enhanced on-shelf efficacy.
The closure can also be customized to meet specific brand and product requirements including unique colors.
