Arjun Khanna Called His Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2013 Men's Wear Collection

Arjun Khanna called his Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2013 men’s wear collection, “Out of Sight, Out of Mind”. But it was very far from forgettable. In fact it caused a fashionable storm on the ramp with his Avant Garde chic look for the 21st century male.

Influenced by bicycle style and the messenger boys of the 1940s as well as BMX bikes and fixies, Arjun showed 42 entries to highlight the international bicycle culture through his retro industrial clothes.

The colours stayed natural with occasional pops of neon green, yellow, shocking pink and purple which appeared for linen, cotton, English tweed and matka silks along with English plaid textures.

Going for a vintage look, Arjun had the male models sporting cropped jackets, three piece layers, regimented waistcoats, and revived his signature bandhgala with a new fashion twist to move them away from the traditional setting.

The show opened to the sound of a whirring helicopter and soon the Raptor remote control version chucked down the ramp. After a quick AV of showing “cyclobatics” the very retro-meets-modern look was sent out on quick stepping male modes with mask like eye makeup.

With armbands displaying the year of the style, there was a rapid line of jackets, rolled up trousers and a large choice of cycling pants with interesting detailing made a brisk entry on grim faced models.

Biker jackets were in leather or fabrics with piping, various styles in pockets, waistcoats with masculine touches, camouflage print coats, denim blousons, military coats and tweed jackets.

Conventional long trousers appeared for the last few entries when formal jackets were shown with seam detailing and contrast edging. The two tuxedos, one in black with peak lapels and the final one in white linen made a firm fashion statement.

Accessories were just perfect. Bomber jackets, bowler hats, bags, suspenders and bow ties, were ideal complements for the bicycles, cameras and sunglasses – many pieces being part of Arjun’s personal collection.

For men who fancy retro chic with that international flair, then Arjun Khanna’s collection will provide a nostalgic fashionable ride.
