Remy Cointreau Reported Slump in Consolidated Sales for First Nine Months

Liqueurs and spirits producer Rémy Cointreau has reported slump in consolidated sales for first nine months of the current financial year to €740.9m, down 12.4% from €845.7m in 2013.

The company generated €269.1m in sales during the third quarter, when compared to €287.6m in the previous year.

Rémy Martin witnessed 8.6% decline in cumulative sales for the first nine months to €425.9m.

However, the shipments to Greater China and the US have increased in the third quarter.

Rémy Cointreau's Liqueurs & Spirits division reported 5.8% rise in organic sales in first nine months of the fiscal year. This growth was driven by its key brands and major regions.

The company's Partner Brands sales dropped by around 40% to €115.2m, but grew by 0.8% in organic terms.

Rémy Cointreau claims that the change in reported sales also reflects the end of the Edrington distribution contract in the US on 31 March 2014.

This contract had contributed €76.2m to group sales to the end of December 2013.
