British wine importer EWGA has acquired regional wholesaler Heritage Wines for an undisclosed amount.
The acquisition, which is said to be the company's biggest purchase to date, will further bolster the company's position in the South and add on an important South West regional hub also serving London.
Commenting on the acquisition, Heritage MD Guy Adams said : "I am delighted to be handing over to EWGA, the synergy between the two companies is uncannily strong. The move for Heritage Wine will be a positive step for all our existing 500 plus customer base adding even more wines to what will be an all encompassing portfolio.
"Old Cider Mill Bonded warehouse will act as a southern base enabling EWGA to add more bonded facilities across the South West."
Adams will remain on a consultancy basis along with the majority of the sales team and all the head office and bond staff.
Since 2000, EWGA has acquired many other small regional wholesalers and agency businesses which contributed to its growth in the wine trading business.
