Redma Explained That in 2011 The Production Was 680 Thousand Tons

Due to several news delivered by small and medium industries to stop the export of polyester, the Secretary General of the Indonesian Synthetic Fiber Producers Association (APSyFI) Redma Wirawasta Gita states that he guarantees it will not happen.

Redma explained that so far the polyester yarn production reached 680 thousand tons of a total capacity of 833 thousand tons. "Our utilization still reached 81%, we can increase the production of about 153 thousand tons if a local small industry needs" he said.

Redma explained that in 2011 the production was 680 thousand tons, 200 thousand tons exported and 480 thousand tons supplied to domestic.

"We would be very happy if the domestic industry is still needed, which means we can produce more so that we can increase production utilization" he said. Redma explained that in 2011 polyester yarn consumption reached 400 thousand tons, and this year is expected to reach 520 thousand tons, by 2015 predicted consumption could reach 580 thousand tons.

"SMEs do need more polyester fabric which means it requires a lot more polyester yarn because it is a worldwide trend following a the reduction in the supply of cotton " he said.

Contacted separately, the Director General of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME), Euis Saedah said that there would be no ban on export of polyester because it related with foreign exchange income. She explained that raw material needs of small and medium enterprises was continue to increase, driven by demand from consumers, especially for fashion products, but do not need to stop export because of the production can still be fulfilled.

"During this time, the SME had no trouble to get polyester as a raw material. The government also does not prohibit the producers to export polyester, which is needed is a better alliances between the producers with the SME to catch the potential market because the countries producing raw materials of polyester and rayon "she explained.
