Hickory Springs Breaks Ground on Foam Plant Expansion

CONOVER, N.C. — Hickory Springs Mfg., a components supplier for the furniture, bedding and transportation markets, has broken ground on a 10,000-square-foot expansion of its foam production complex here.

The $1.5 million project features a foam tech lab that will enhance the company's ability to formulate foams, incorporate new pilot lines and improve testing capabilities.

"This groundbreaking is a tangible illustration of the increased emphasis Hickory Springs is placing on research and innovation as the company moves forward," said Dave Colburn, president and CEO. "It also supports the transition currently underway at Hickory Springs from being a components supplier to a global manufacturer of integrated solutions and components, and demonstrates the company's continued investment in people, facilities and technologies that is so critical to our success."

Several community leaders joined the company's leadership team at the groundbreaking, including Conover Mayor Lee Moritz Jr.; Donald Duncan Jr., Conover city manager; Scott Millar, president of the Catawba County Economic Development Corp.; and Danny Hearn, president of the Catawba County Chamber of Commerce.
