Mattel’s leading American Girl brand has made its first move into the construction toy category with a new line under the Mega Bloks name.
The new range marks a first for Mattel as it launches its first line of premium construction toys for girls aged eight and upwards.
Developed in collaboration with Mattel’s Mega Bloks team, the line includes popular characters from the American Girl’s Girl of the Year range including Grace, Isabelle, Saige, McKenna and Nicki.
The Mega Bloks American Girl products are currently available exclusively at Toys R Us in the US and Canada and will expand to other retailers across the territories from July 1st this year.
“We know girls are makers, creators and doers and they are looking for activities that fuel their creative and imaginative spirit,” said Katy Dickson, president of American Girl.
“Collaborating with another Mattel brand to create a premium and thoughtfully conceived construction line for girls allows for terrific synergy across the company and helps us encourage girls’ creativity and self-confidence in a whole new way.”
Each themed set in the new range arrives with its own articulated Girl of the Year mini figure character, a multi paged story book and step by step building instrucitons.
The line will be lead hero Grace’s 2-in1 Buildable Home, priced at $69.99 and featuring 749 pieces.
The entire line-up features Isabelle’s Ballet Recital, Nicki’s Horse Stables, Saige’s Art studio, Grace’s Pastry Cart, McKenna’s Gymnastics Training, Uptown and Downtown Style Collections and a collectable figures assortment.
