Luxury car maker Ferrari is recalling more than 3000 units of its 458 sports cars, Ferrari 458 Italia and 458 Spider in the US over the issues with the interior latch.
The 458 sports cars hood has two latches that can be released from the inside and outside of the car. It is a safety feature used by the company to prevent anyone from getting trapped in the trunk.
In the faulty vehicle the inside-the-trunk handle only releases the first latch, and lid opens slightly which would allow the trapped passenger to breath and call for help but the passenger will not be able to get out on their own.
According the US safety regulators, the trapped passenger must able to exit the trunk on their own.
The company will notify the owners and dealers, who will modify the parts for free.
