Last year we showed you the revolutionary Black & Decker Gyro screwdriver. Now professionals can get their fix with the DCF680 8V Gyroscopic Screwdriver. I had an opportunity to use this tool at the DeWALT media event a few months back and I have to say it is awesome. This tool is designed for precise applications where torque is critical. The amount of control you get with this tools I unparallelled. Simply twist your wrist to control direction and speed. Instead of a variable speed trigger you have a variable speed wrist. On top of that there is a clutch so you can really dial in how much torque you need. The driver adjusts from a long circular shape to a pistol style driver with a twist of the grip. Unlike the B&D Gyro, the DCF680 has a tactic feedback feature. When you activate the switch you feel a slight vibration to let you know the unit is powered up.
The DCF680 has a 3 light battery status gauge on the unit so you can see when you need to charge it. There will be 2 versions of this tool available the DCF680N1 which retails at $89.97 and comes with one battery and the DCF680N2 that comes 2 batteries and retails for $99. Personally I would take the latter as it only costs roughly $10 more to get an extra battery. The tool has an LED light ring that lights up your work area. Overall I think this tool is going to be a big hit.
