Poor demand has led Japan-based Mitsui Chemicals to reduce operating rates at its purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant.
“We are currently operating the PTA plant located in Iwakuni at 75% of production capacity because of poor demand from the domestic markets,” a Mitsui official told fibre2fashion.
When asked about any imminent turnaround at the PTA plant, he replied by saying that they have a maintenance turnaround in the months of September-October every year.
The PTA plant has a production capacity of 400,000 tons per annum.
