Japan Imported Steel in October,up by 17.2% From September But Down by 7.2% Year on Year

According to the statistics from the Japan Iron and Steel Association (JISF), Japan imported steel of 709,000 tons in October, up by 17.2% from September but down by 7.2% year on year.

Meanwhile, it was the first time that the Japanese steel import reached over 700,000 tons. Japan imported ordinary and special steel of 393,000 tons and 69,000 tons, soaring by 24.3% and 47.3% month on month respectively.

As for the plate material, Japanese HRC import in October increased by 44.8% to reach 144,000 tons.

In October, Japan imported HRC of 86,000 tons and 57,000 tons from Korea and Taiwan, jumping by 82.1% and 35.5% from a month ago respectively.

In addition, Japan imported CR sheet, GI sheet, and silicon steel and tinplate of 84,000 tons, 57,000 tons, 3,500 tons and 2,000 tons respectively.
