Solar wafer maker Sino-American Silicon Products (SAS) expects utilization of its polycrystalline ingot growing capacity to rise from 70% currently to 100% in first-quarter 2015, according to company president Doris Hsu.
The utilization rate will increase due to growing global demand for high-efficiency polycrystalline silicon solar cells, Hsu said. SAS plans to expand its annual polycrystalline silicon ingot growing capacity from 800MWp currently to 1,000MWp in 2015.
Sunrise Global Solar Energy, SAS's subsidiary maker of PERC (passivated emitter rear cell) monocrystalline silicon solar cells, viewing that global PV demand in 2015 is expected to grow to 50GWp of which most will be of rooftop PV systems, will expand annual production capacity from 500MWp at present to 850MWp in 2015, Hsu said.
