Importers Still Have an Adequate Supply of Softwood Lumber Even for Prompt Deliveries

At the beginning of the third quarter, the majority of central European shippers have been unable to get importers on the softwood lumber markets of North Africa and the Middle East to accept higher selling prices. From what shippers say, importers still have an adequate supply of softwood lumber even for prompt deliveries. In cases where shippers are insisting on higher prices, importers are evidently still finding alternative suppliers willing to deliver at the hitherto applicable prices. The volume of sales on North African and Middle East markets is still being described as generally satisfactory halfway through the year. Central European shippers hold the view that so far only the development in prices has failed to live up to the expectations. Source: euwid-wood-products
