LED backlighting component makers are seeing increased orders from Samsung Electronics as the company prepares for a surge in shipments throughout May and June.
Growth during the quarter is expected to come as vendors release new units in preparation for the 2014 World Cup, particularly for Ultra HD TVs, said industry sources.
The LED supply chain also saw steady growth from Samsung in the beginning of the second quarter due to China's Labor Day holidays, which should boost many LED makers' performances during the quarter.
Samsung held a 22.5% share in LCD TV manufacturing shipments during the first quarter of 2014 followed by LG Electronics at 15%. Samsung's share is expected to remain steady throughout the second quarter, which in addition to orders from LG, will bring steady LED demand for supply chains in Taiwan as well.
