In April this year, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports rose by 17.97 percent year on year and increased by 44.27 percent compared to the previous month to 51,916 metric tons, following the 2.07 percent month-on-month increase recorded in March, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports in April was $112.23 million, increasing by 4.62 percent year on year and up 40.59 percent compared to March.
Meanwhile, in the first four months of the current year, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports amounted to 163,936 metric tons, increasing by 21.22 percent, with a value of $355.74 million, up 6.05 percent, both year on year.
In the first four months this year, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports from Taiwan, which ranked as Turkey's top import source for the products in question in 2013, decreased by 43.39 percent year on year to 18,193 mt. In January-April this year, South Korea was Turkey's leading import source for stainless flat steel, supplying 46,488 metric tons, up 169.57 percent year on year. China followed South Korea, with its stainless flat steel exports to Turkey in the given period increasing by 112.68 percent year on year to 25,888 metric tons. Meanwhile, in the given period Turkey's stainless flat steel imports from Italy increased by 190.65 percent year on year to 25,868 metric tons.
