According to statistics released by the Korea Iron and Steel Association (KOSA), South Korea's production of hot rolled coils (HRC) increased by 3% year on year to 30.41 million tons in the first ten months of this year, in spite of weak demand in domestic market.
Besides, the Posco Research Institute (Posri) predicted that the country's HRC output would rise further by 5% in 2013
It's learned that South Korea's HRC demand has remained sluggish by the coming of winter.
At present, the selling prices of SS400 HRC originated from Posco are at 760,000~770,000 won/ton and the selling prices of boron-added HRC from China are at 680,000~690,000 won/ton respectively in the South Korean market.
