Russkaya Stal (Russian Steel), a non-prot association of Russian domestic steelmakers, has reported that its main member enterprises produced 4.4 million metric tons of finished steel in November this year, down 4.5 percent from October and unchanged compared to November last year. Finished steel production of the member enterprises came to 49.6 million mt in the January-November period this year, down 2.6 percent compared to the same period last year.
Finished steel shipments of Russian Steel member companies to domestic end-users in November were down by 5.7 percent month on month to 2.45 million mt and unchanged compared to November 2012. In the first 11 months this year, Russian Steel member companies shipped 28.9 million mt of finished steel to the local market, up 0.27 percent year on year.
Members of Russian Steel exported 1.95 million mt of finished steel in November this year, down 2.8 percent compared to October and down 0.5 percent compared to November last year. In the January-November period, finished steel export shipments of the member companies amounted to 20.7 million mt, down 6.3 percent year on year.
Members of Russian Steel account for around 96 percent of the pig iron produced in Russia as well as around 90 percent of domestic crude and finished steel production.
