Temperature assurance packaging provider Sonoco ThermoSafe, a unit of Sonoco, has launched a new shipping solution for temperature-sensitive products called Envoy Direct series.
Sonoco has developed the series to reduce dimensional weight, bring down total shipping costs and improve operational efficiency in specialty pharmacy, mail-order pharmacy and pharmacy benefit management environments.
The Envoy series helps in maintaining refrigerated temperatures for a day's time and is tested to the ISTA 7E profile.
The company has made the packaging solutions available with either PolarPack gel packs or PolarPack foam bricks as refrigerants, depending on the level of protection required.
Sonoco business development and market manager Marianne Hoonakker-Kelly said: "The Envoy Direct line of temperature-controlled solutions was designed in accordance with market feedback. The refrigerant component configurations remain the same for all seasons, which simplifies the assembly. The Envoy Direct series is the first optimized line for direct-to-patient distribution that balances total cost, operational needs and product protection."
Sonoco ThermoSafe provides temperature assurance packaging for the safe and efficient transport of pharmaceuticals, biologics, vaccines and other temperature-sensitive products.
The unit has operations in North America, Europe and Asia and offers industry-leading technology that encompasses refrigerated, frozen or controlled room temperature applications.
The ISC Labs by Sonoco ThermoSafe offers individualised and innovative packaging solutions along with qualification and validation services to meet regulatory requirements.
Established in 1899, Sonoco has annual combined sales of approximately $5.4bn and employs more than 21,000 people across 34 countries. It primarily produces a variety of consumer packaging, industrial products and protective packaging.
