US based automotive firm American Axle & Manufacturing (AAM) will invest GBP3.6m in its new manufacturing and engineering centre of excellence at Glasgow plant.
The investment will be used for new equipment, machinery, as well as in research and development at its Albion Automotive site in the city's Scotstoun area.
The project is being supported by a fund provided by the economic development agency Scottish Enterprise with a regional selective assistance grant of GBP480,000 and a research and development grant of GBP94,000.
AAM Europe executive director William Smith quoted by BBC saying the company works with the Scottish Development International and Scottish Enterprise to gain support for its new business in Scotland.
"With their excellent support in obtaining RSA and R&D grants, AAM Europe has been able to add important new business to our portfoli," Smith said.
The new manufacturing and engineering centre of excellence, which is supported by Scottish Enterprise, is expected to increase the company's product and process design capabilities as well as allow it to refocus on new opportuniies in the passenger vehicle market.
