Growing demand for LED backlight products will continue to buoy the revenue performance of LED driver IC suppliers Macroblock and On-Bright Electronics in the third quarter of 2013, according to industry sources.
Macroblock saw its revenues rally 45% sequentially to NT$605 million (US$20.23 million) in the second quarter of 2013, indicating that the previous concerns for high inventory levels at clients no longer exist, indicated the sources.
Macroblock is expected to ramp up its shipments of new LED driver ICs to the LED lighting segment in the third quarter, helping maintain its growth momentum in the quarter, said the sources.
Powered by increasing shipments LED driver ICs and LED TV backlit devices, On-Bright is expected to see its revenues reach a new high in July. Its monthly figures have hit record highs for four consecutive months since March.
On-Bright's second-quarter net profits are likely to reach NT$150 million or NT$3.50 per share, making the company the most profitable IC design house in Taiwan in the quarter, estimated the sources.
