According to Ball, the San Luis Potosi plant produces extruded aluminum aerosol cans for personal care and household products serving North, Central and South American customers.
The plant, which is part of Ball's metal food and household products packaging division, Americas, complements its global extruded aluminum aerosol and slug business in Europe as well as its aluminum slug business in North America acquired in 2010.
Ball claims that the acquisition provides the company a new end market for its products including its technology that enables lightweighting in the manufacture of aluminum packaging.
As part of its metal food and household products packaging division, Ball will continue to operate its aerosol manufacturing plants in San Luis and Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Under the terms, which were previously discussed in Ball's announcement made in October 2012, that would have combined aerosol operations of both the companies in South America, Ball intends not to form a joint venture.
