Mazda Motor Has Announced That It Will Apply I-Activsense Technologies to Mazda6 in 2012

Japanese carmaker Mazda Motor has said that it will incorporate i-Activsense technologies into the new Mazda6 to be launched later in 2012.

i-Activsense is a series of Mazda's advanced safety technologies designed to aid the driver in recognizing hazards, avoiding collisions and reducing the severity of accidents when they cannot be avoided.

The technologies will include Mazda radar cruise control, the forward obstruction warning system, the high-beam control system, adaptive front-lighting system, the smart brake support system, smart City brake support and acceleration control for automatic transmission.

The new sedan is powered by the SKYACTIV-G 2.0 gasoline engine mated to a six-speed SKYACTIV-DRIVE automatic transmission, which generates 155hp output and 150lb-ft of torque.

Mazda is planning to produce about 120,000 units of the Mazda6 per year at its Hofu Plant No. 2, in Yamaguchi region in Japan.
