Monterrey, Mexico-based PMP Grupo-Planeación, in partnership with India-based Preet Group-PG, announced plans this week to expand into the US and Canada, building mini-mills to process steel scrap.
The announcement Monday at the Association for Iron & Steel Tecnology (AIST) conference in Indianapolis, Indiana, indicated that the project will involve an initial investment of US$40 million to US$100 million dollars in each mini-plant, each of which generate 200 to 400 direct jobs.
Porfirio González, president of PMP, said the plants are intended for the production of barbed wire, chain link fence, mesh paths, nails cloves and wire.
