LED chip, lamp and lighting fixture maker Cree Inc of Durham, NC, USA says that its LN Series suspended luminaire is now available to ship.
With its architectural design and WaveMax Technology, the LN Series suspended luminaire creates better light from every angle: beautiful and efficient, simple to install, and unexpectedly affordable. Unlike direct linear lighting, the new luminaire eliminates glare and unattractive ceiling contrasts known as the 'cave effect', in which ceilings appear darker than the work spaces below, causing potential discomfort and eyestrain.
As the first indirect/direct luminaire from Cree, the LN Series delivers 60% of its light upward to dispel the striped ceiling contrasts common with direct and indirect uplight fixtures, illuminating the task surface for greater productivity and heightened alertness. With what is claimed to be a unique modular light engine for easier job design, specification and installation, the LN Series suspended luminaire is suitable for both new construction and retrofit applications.
The LN Series luminaires offer 4:1 ceiling uniformity with up to 90% optical efficiency. Cree's patented WaveMax Technology results in fixtures delivering up to 115 LPW (lumens per watt) at a 90+ color rendering index (CRI), with up to 3700 lumens at 3500K or 4000K. The modular design simplifies installation and improves architect, lighting designer and specifier freedom with increased spacing between luminaires, says Cree. The firm says that the LN Series luminaire enables quiet ceilings for vibrant spaces, at a price aimed to drive adoption. It can be installed in runs of up to 136 feet continuous rows with a single power feed, utilizing simple 2-screw connections between each fixture.
In addition to standard 0-10V dimming, the LN Series is also available with SmartCast Technology, Cree's intelligent light solution, providing a combination of energy productivity and a more personalized light experience: occupants experience intelligent light at an affordable price, creating a customizable lighting environment that can save more than 70% in energy costs over linear fluorescent lighting, it is reckoned.
The LN Series suspended luminaire features a 10-year limited warranty (double that of most industry competitors, it is claimed) and is available to order and ship now.
