It is reported that global production of stainless steel increased 4.6% in the first half of this year, compare to the same period in last year, setting a record high of 18.6 million tons.
China is the main contributor of such increase, who had produced 15% more than same period last year, about 8.8 million tons, despite the low price and less increase of the stainless steel consumption.
According to market analyst, the consumption of stainless steel in China increased between 8.8% and 10.5% in this period.
In other Asian countries except China, the production of stainless steel dropped 3.7% to 4.3 million tons; the number in America is 1.2 million tons, a decrease of 1.9%.
Western Europe’s production was down by 4%, total production was around 4.1 million tons.
