Turkey's Wire Rod Exports Decreased by 15.22% in The First 10 Months of The Current Year

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in the first 10 months of the current year Turkey's wire rod exports amounted to 787,735 mt, decreasing 15.22 percent, while the revenue from these exports fell to $475.13 million, down 20.82 percent, both compared to the same period of 2012.

On the other hand, in October Turkey's wire rod exports decreased by 1.25 percent year on year to 90,750 metric tons, but increased by 49.16 percent month on month. The revenue from these exports amounted to $54.18 million, down 4.92 percent year on year and up 48.38 percent month on month. In the given month, the average price of Turkey's wire rod exports stood at $597.03/mt, falling $3.14/mt month on month and down from the average of $620.04/mt recorded in the same month of 2012.

In the January-October period of current year, Turkey's wire rod exports to Libya rose by 101.35 percent to 104,517 mt, while its wire rod exports to Italy rose 97.14 percent to 48,489 mt, both compared with the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, in January-October this year Turkey's wire rod exports to the US were around a third of what they were in the same period of the previous year, amounting to 39,970 mt. In October this year, Italy was the leading destination for Turkey's wire rod exports.
