Amcor Rigid Plastics has supplied a new aseptically filled, 750g barrier polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle to Venezuela-based food and beverage manufacturer Empresas Polar for the launch of its pourable yogurt.
The barrier PET container supplied for Empresas' new MiGurt features a single-lead 38mm finish with a foil induction seal and is wrapped with a shrink sleeve label.
For its first light-blocking, aseptically filled container. Amcor used advanced barrier technology to meet aseptic filling requirements up to 140°F and prevent spoilage and degradation of the yogurt product, while maintaining its nutritional value.
Amcor Latin America Diversified Products manager Mercedes Candedo said, "The new barrier PET container represents a major development in ambient foods, offering a unique packaging solution that opens up new business opportunities in the food and beverage market."
The bottle comes with white pigmented, opaque structure and its design elements were maintained and optimized while meeting aseptic fill demands.
According to Amcor, design considerations were made in order to maintain a smooth interior profile which aided the aseptic sterilization process.
PET containers from Amcor are said to use advanced barrier technology to meet aseptic filling requirements and offer light-blocking capabilities to avert spoilage and degradation of the yogurt product.
Empresas Polar also plans to launch the MiGurt yogurt in single-serve 100g and 250g sizes.
