Non-Invasive Fetal Heart Monitor Is Showcased by Mindchild

MindChild Medicals will showcase its non-invasive fetal heart monitoring system at the 33rd annual meeting for the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine (SMFM), which will be held at San Francisco, California, US, from 13-15 February 2013.

The Meridian fetal heart monitor, which is intended for use by healthcare professionals in a clinical setting, is designed for use in women who are at term (> 36 completed weeks), in labor, with singleton pregnancies.

The monitor acquires and displays the fetal heart rate (FHR) tracing from abdominal surface electrodes that detect the fetal ECG signal (fECG), claims the company.

In addition, Meridian can be used to measure and display fetal heart rate using direct ECG (DECG) with a Fetal Scalp Electrode (FSE).

MindChild said SMFM's objective is to bring together clinicians and industry, focusing on the needs of the obstetric community.

MindChild Medicals chief medical officer Adam Wolfberg said, "Now that we have received 510(k) pre-marketing notification clearance from FDA for MERIDIAN, we look forward to introducing MERIDIAN to the obstetric community."
