The Output of US Weekly Raw Steel Increases by 0.9 Percent

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported Monday that US raw steel production increased 0.9 percent in the week ending August 17, following a 1.4 percent drop a week ago.

Total raw steel production in the United States was 1,878,000 net tons (nt) last week, reflecting a 0.9 percent increase from the 1,862,000 nt produced in the previous week and 1 percent below the 1,897,000 nt produced in the same week a year ago.

The capacity utilization rate of US raw steelmaking facilities was 78.4 percent in the week ending August 17, compared to 77.7 percent in the previous week and 76.3 percent in the same week of last year.
