Lextar Electronics, a vertically-integrated LED firm, has reported March consolidated revenues of NT$1.123 billion (US$37.0 million), up 27.42% sequentially and 3.22% on year. LED packager Unity Opto Technology had NT$753 million in March consolidated revenues, growing 25.17% sequentially and 6.88% on year.
Lextar said its capacity utilization in March rose to over 80%. Due to demand for LCD TVs in the upcoming shopping season in China in early May, March revenues from LED backlight units (BLUs) used in TVs hiked sequentially by over 100%, Lextar indicated, adding shipments of LED BLUs to China- and Japan-based smartphone vendors in March significantly increased on month.
Lextar's consolidated revenues of NT$3.222 billion for January-March rose 12.39% on year.
Unity Opto said its sequential growth in March consolidated revenue was driven by demand from the TV sector preparing for the May shopping season in China. Unity Opto posted consolidated revenues of NT$1.915 billion for January-March, up 6.81% on year.
