French luxury men’s swimwear and beachwear brand Vilebrequin, after launching a capsule collection for women last summer, is set to launch a 30-piece line of women’s swimwear and ready-to-wear in November, 2013.
The luxury brand founded by Fred Prysquel in 1971 in Saint-Tropez, France, has been supplying boys and men’s swimwear and beachwear since 40 years and forayed into the women’s wear this summer to try and test if it could tap the womenswear market too.
The collection would include sweaters, linen pants, dresses and Vilebrequin’s classic Bermuda shorts with feminine cuts for women as well as accessories for girls.
The move into womenswear comes a year after the G-III apparel group acquired the brand from Netherlands based private equity fund, Fashion Fund I.B.V for approximately US$ 106.2 million.
Vilebrequin sells its products through a network of 185 owned and franchised specialty retail stores and shops as well as through select wholesale distribution.
The Brand generates around 25 percent of its overall sales in the US and plans to set up its first pop-up store in Beijing, China, by September, 2013, and would be opening stores in Paris and Singapore in 2014.
Currently, the brand has stores at several fashion capitals, including Saint-Tropez, London, New York and Rome.
