Packaging Plant in Karnataka by Starbucks and Tata Coffee Open Roasting

Starbucks Coffee in the US and its Indian partner Tata Coffee have opened a new roasting and packaging plant in the Indian state Karnataka.

The new unit with a capacity of 375t annually, which is located at Kushalnagar in Kodagu district of Karnataka, will cater to the domestic as well as select overseas markets in future.

Spread across 8,258ft2, the facility has an installed production capacity of 375MT, and will enable roasting and packaging of green coffee beans for Starbucks stores in India and select markets globally in future.

Starbucks Coffee president (China and Asia Pacific) John Culver said, "This deepens our sourcing relationship with India's coffee farmers and further demonstrates our long-term commitment to sourcing high quality arabica coffee."

With three major sections - green coffee storage and handling, roasting, and packing and dispatch, the plant also boasts of an automatic filling and sealing line as well as a pneumatic logic controlled green coffee handling system for recipe control.
