According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in the first half of the current year Turkey's steel billet exports amounted to 1.2 million mt, falling 7.7 percent compared to the same period of 2012, with a value of $655 million, down 17.2 percent year on year. Turkey's billet exports in the second quarter of the current year declined to their lowest level recorded since the second quarter of 2009, amounting to 441,345 mt, down by 41.3 percent from the first quarter of the year and down 47.7 percent year on year.
In June this year, Turkey's steel billet exports amounted to 154,095 metric tons, remaining stable compared to the previous month and down 56.3 percent compared to the same month of 2012. The revenue generated by Turkey's steel billet exports in June totaled $82.4 million, decreasing 4.2 percent compared to May and down 61.4 year on year. According to the data released by TUIK, in June the average price of Turkey's steel billet exports stood at $535/mt, falling compared to the average of $556/mt recorded in May and $605/mt in June 2012.
