Pininfarina Has Confirmed It Will Pay Tribute to Its Late Chairman Sergio Pininfarina

Pininfarina Sergio Concept to Honour Iconic Designer

Italian design house Pininfarina has confirmed it will pay tribute to its late chairman Sergio Pininfarina with an "innovative and exclusive" concept car named in his honour at next month's 2013 Geneva motor show.

Previewed here in a tightly cropped teaser image, the Pininfarina Sergio concept aims to "renew the spirit of the extraordinary achievements born from Sergio Pininfarina's pencil".

Pininfarina says the concept's designers sought to create a modern interpretation of the former-chairman's vision, targeting the expression of "exclusivity, innovation and passion".

The 'Maestro' of Italian design, Sergio Pininfarina died last July aged 85. In 40 years at the head of the company formed by his father Battista in 1930, Sergio was responsible for penning some of the most visually stunning vehicles in automotive history, including the Ferrari F40, Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto and the Maserati Quattroporte.

The Pininfarina Sergio concept will be unveiled in Geneva on March 5.
