The Forest Stewardship Council of Australia (FSC) has named third-party auditor SCS Global Services as 'Certification Body of the Year' at its 2012 excellence awards.
SCS, which is accredited to perform audits under FSC's standards for responsible forestry and chain-of-custody, was recognised for its educational activities that raised awareness of the FSC system and its "excellent" stakeholder engagement.
SCS regional director of Australia and New Zealand, Nick Capobianco, said SCS has certified over 120 Australian and New Zealand companies under the FSC standards.
The company's certified clients in Australia and New Zealand include HQ Plantations, Visy Industries, Carter Holt Harvey and The Laminex Group. SCS has also audited all three projects registered for FSC Project Certification in Australia, including the Six Star Green Star rated Pixel Building in Melbourne, the ISIS Group Brisbane office and the Euneva multi-level car park and community health facility in the City of Monash.
SCS has been involved in third-party environmental and sustainability certification, auditing, testing, and standards development for nearly 30 years.
A founding member of FSC, SCS has been accredited since the inception of the FSC certification scheme and is among the top FSC certifiers worldwide, having issued more than 4500 certificates against the full range of FSC standards across the globe and 30 per cent of all certificates issued in Australia.
