In recent years, the global market share of the Japanese television industry fell significantly, while Korean and Chinese enterprises were achieving a catch-up. In 2012, China's color TV industry surpassed Japan.
South Korea's Samsung Electronics and LG have overtaken Japan, with TV share up to 34%, the highest in the world.
By the third quarter of 2012, China's major brand LCD TV global shipments were close to that of Japan. By the fourth quarter, Chinese LCD TV scale flat was almost equal to Japanese companies, with global market share of about 25%.
