Supermarket chain ALDI has voluntarily recalled its Carlini Baking Spray in the US due to incorrect gluten-free labeling.
ALDI said that the label states that the product is'made with Real Flour'and is a'Naturally Gluten-Free Food,'which are contradictory claims. The product is made with wheat flour and consumers with allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat or gluten can become ill if they consume this product.
The product,5-ounce Carlini Baking Spray, was an ALDI Special Buy product. It was available at ALDI stores in the US beginning 28 September 2012.After receiving notification about the labeling error, the company immediately removed the affected product from the store shelves.
Carlini Butter Spray,Carlini Canola Oil Spray and Carlini Olive Oil Spray are not affected by this voluntary recall.
Customers who have wheat or gluten sensitivities should discard the product or they may return it to their local store for a full refund.
ALDI operates more than 1,200 U.S.stores in 32 states, primarily from Kansas to the East Coast.
