Igus's Xiros Dry Are Designed for Applications Where Steel Bearings Fail

Igus's Xiros dry-running, single-row, deep-grooved plastic ball bearings — which are designed for applications where steel bearings fail — are made to DIN 625 standard dimensions. A Xiros ball bearing consists of four components: The outer race, the inner race, the cage and the balls. The first two components and the cage are made of specially formulated tribological plastics that are resistant to chemicals and extreme temperatures. The balls, meanwhile, can be made of stainless steel, glass or plastic. According to Igus, this enables the customer to choose the best solution based on weight, load capacity, noise reduction, chemical resistance, environment and cost. Key benefits The ball bearings are designed to maximise service life and to minimise the coefficient of friction. Thanks to the dry-running properties of the Xiros, it is suitable for applications requiring no maintenance and no lubrication. This provides advantages in areas where wash-downs are required or in operational environments where the components may decompose, and also when the rotational speed is too high for a standard plain bearing. Xiros ball bearings, when used with glass or plastic balls, are non-metallic and non-magnetic. Source:bearing.com.cn
