Chinese Silk and Embroidery Exhibition Are Hosted by London

The recently concluded Chinese Silk Culture and Embroidery Art Exhibition in London featured the centuries old heritage and craftsmanship of fine Chinese silk with an extensive display of silk thread woven fabrics, embroidery pieces and other artwork.

Nearly 150 different silk made items, including books, scrolls, paintings and intricately embroidered scarves were exhibited at the two-day long event.   The highlight of the exhibition was a recreation of the famous French impressionist Claude Monet's oil painting ‘Sleeping Lotus’, wherein the artist reproduced the artwork by using crewel stitch technique to amplify the bold strokes of the legendary painting.

Few of the displayed items at the show were also available for charity sale and the proceeds were donated to an organization named Art Room, which works for the betterment of disadvantaged children and teenagers.

Live embroidery performances and other educative sessions on Chinese silk were additionally organized on the sidelines of the exhibition.

Supported by the Chinese Embassy in the UK and the Bank of China, the event was jointly organized by the China Silk Association and China Tong Yuan Co Ltd.
