Johnson Controls for The Supply of Lithium-Ion Battery Packs

XL Hybrids, a low-cost hybrid electric powertrain developer for class 1 to 3 commercial fleets, has signed a supply agreement with Johnson Controls for the supply of lithium-ion battery packs.

The supplied battery packs will power XL Hybrids' light duty commercial vehicles which include the Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans.

According to Johnson Controls, the new battery pack has 1.8kwh (kWh) of energy storage, a peak discharge power rating of 50kW and a voltage of 260V.

The battery packs will be manufactured at Johnson Controls' lithium-ion manufacturing plant in Holland, Michigan, US in early 2013.

XL Hybrids said that the hybrid Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans powered by 1.8 kWh batterypack from Johnson Controls will be launched in 2013.
